Kathmandu : CPN-UML candidate Bidhya Sudnar Shakya and Nepali Congress candidate Hari Prabha Khadgi have emerged victorious as Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolis, respectively.
CPN-UML candidate Shakya secured his win by receiving 64,913 votes against 45,259 votes of his close contender NC candidate Rajuraj Joshi.
NC candidate Khadgi registered her victory to the post of Deputy Mayor by garnering 58,952 votes against 34,854 votes of her close rival Rajaram Shrestha of Rastriya Prajatantra Party.
Chief Returning Officer Dipendra Adhikari announced the vote count results at National Assembly today.
Total vote cast in the Kathmandu Metropolis was 197,227 while 6183 votes were invalid. Kathmandu had the total voters of 279,306.
