Bhaktapur : Health Security Insurance Programme under the social health security has started in Bhaktapur.
A family of five members signing up for the programme by paying Rs 2, 500 in advance annually can claim up to Rs 50,000 worth of medical treatment per year, said executive director of the Social Health Security Development Committee Dr Gunaraj Lohani.
In case of a family with more than five members, each family member, under the programme, is required to pay an annual fee of Rs 425 and medical service worth Rs 10,000 each person will be added accordingly, according to the programme.
The free medicines provided to patients will not include this provision however, said Lohani.
Six health institutions in Bhaktapur are providing the insurance facility, including Bharatpur Hospital, Public Health Service Center, Nepal Korea Friendship Hospital, Changunarayan Primary Health Centre and Dadhikot Primary Health Center.
Started from Kailali, Baglung and Ilam, the programme has also been launched in Chitwan, Jumla and Tanahun. Preparations were underway to start the programme in Jajarkot, Makawanpur and Gorkha from this month of Asadh.
